I've tried every diet out there...
Dear Dietitian, At 50, I've again gained "the weight" (somewhere
around 40 - 50 lbs - I
won't get on the scale; it's too depressing), and once again,
there seems to be no end in sight. I know you've already heard
this: "I've tried every diet out there", and have short term
successes, but when I'm again on my own, I can't seem to stay on
a program that I can live with (and keep the weight off).
Can you help? Desperate, (name removed)
Our whole family needs
to diet...
Hi, I have four daughters. Everyone needs a weight loss plan,
including Mom......Can you help us? They are 14, 11, 10 and 7.
Thank you.
How do you develop a plan
that satisfies...
Meal planning for others has always been easy for me but to plan
a meal for myself that was a big problem. I have others come to
me for low calorie or low carbohydrate or even low calorie/low
carbohydrate meals. That has been easy, but that is on a one to
one bases. When my son was growing up it was just him and me.
Now I have a husband type, 3 daughters living at home and
myself, the problem comes from satisfying them as well as
myself. I have also been diagnosed with an eating disorder.
(compulsive eating) I do not purge or go without but I do tend
to overeat and binge when things do not go well in the home.
Well enough of the troubled old lady, I just wanted to thank you
for your time and effort. Kathryn
I'm a picky eater and don't like certain foods...
Dear Dietitian, Hi my name is Kathryn and I have problems on
almost any diet where they say that I have to legumes (will not,
can't have and just don't like them) the only bean that I will
eat is Blue Lake Green Beans. Also I don't like the taste of
milk, I will have milk on my cereal but that is about it. The
only time I eat fish is out, I don't like it, I will eat shrimp,
crab, clams, lobster, Mahi Mahi, canned tuna (but into tuna
salad like for a sandwich). I don't like "greens" i.e. spinach,
collard, chard or like. I will iceberg lettuce, butter lettuce,
red leaf lettuce that's it. I know that it sounds really sad
that I will not a number of foods but either have had bad
reactions to or just like the feel or taste in my mouth. Maybe
if I were to list the foods that I do eat it might prove better.
Please let me know.
I'm busy and need a
practical & easy diet
I am the cook at home, but I don\'t cook often because of work
schedule. I am trying to get to the gym more often. My work
schedule interferes with the gym. What is the required amount of
gym time needed to reach my goal? I do lift weights when I go to
the gym. I\'m in the ready fit program which is a weight lifting
program for middle age adults like myself.
I just learned about my elevated cholesterol .
Please help me with getting it lower. I don't want to take
medication. My doctor advised me to diet to lower it and to come
back to her in two months, I hope that you can help me.
Thanks!!!
It's hard to give up
certain foods when I diet. Can a PersonalDiets plan help?
I LOVE baked goods
(scones, muffins, cookies) with my coffee in the morning,
afternoons and occasionally after work too. Trying to cut this
out totally with past diets has led to eventual failure.
I want to lower my cholesterol...
My Health Is in jeopardy because of my cholesterol level. Can
you really make any difference?
What about diabetic diets?
I just need to make sure the eating plan is good for preventing
diabetes. I am taking medication to help my insulin function
effectively. Will this plan help me prevent diabetes and loss
weight?
I
live outside of the U.S. Are PersonalDiets used outside of the
states?
Hello, I came across your site this afternoon, and am wondering
whether you have prepared diets for people in UK, especially
with the different types of foods and measurements....etc.
It all sounds very good, and I have ready the various emails
from people who seem to have had great success. I look forward
to hearing from you with particular details relating to my
query. Many thanks...SONIA

If
improving health and body weight is important to you it should be
at the top of your “to do” list every day, but is
it?
If you are like most people, every day
is filled with “have tos” at work, at school, and at home. Your “to do”
list is longer than the day allows, and you’re probably doing many
things at once. And, if you’re not getting an average of 7.5 hours
of sleep, you are getting through the day sleep-deprived, so you’re
not functioning as well as you could. Many people eat haphazardly,
eating whatever is handy or convenient at the time. So your diet and
exercise goals get put on the “back burner” where they remain, day
after day.
Changing your eating habits and getting
in shape are long term goals, and like most long term goals,
they’re important, but not “urgent”. Often
daily, less important, but more “urgent” tasks get in
the way of accomplishing them. Most of us are really good about
getting the daily things done (doing homework, doing errands,
etc.). But pretty soon, a year goes by and we are no closer to
the important life goal, no matter how important it was, or still
is.

We have found that many people find
typical diets just add to the problem because they lack the
flexibility to meet the hectic and busy schedules most people
have. So, everything starts out well for a few weeks and then
life gets in the way!
If you're in a situation where you feel
unwilling or unable to focus on your food choices,
PersonalDiets
offers incorporates several ways to help you reach your personal
health and weight goals. In the beginning of any diet plan
you’re building focus and commitment, so it helps to have a
structured meal plan because all do is follow it. So, you have a
meal plan option at PersonalDiets to get things started. The
meal plan option is where most diet plans stop (probably why
people don’t last on diets) without offering any plans or
strategies for incorporating healthy food choices into
“real” life situations. But that’s just the
beginning at Personal Diet.

Diet more
naturally

Where PersonalDiets excels is going
beyond a meal plan design and giving you a program to build
a new
way of eating into your busy life. Since most people can’t
predict where and when they will eat each meal every day, we
increase the flexibility of your diet so that you can choose all
your own foods meal by meal as you go throughout your day.
You’ll learn how to select foods from your personal
guidelines so that you stay on goal without having to follow a
pre-set meal plan – we find that this works very well for
busy people. And unlike most online programs, we also give you
simple and fast ways to keep track your diet and exercise (both
online and off-line) so that you know how you’re doing and
what changes you can make even when you don’t have access
to your computer.
Bring your goals and
PersonalDiets will give you the plan to reach them
with a realistic diet plan that fits
your busy life!
