Dietitian designed diets
Long term weight control is within
everyone's reach. We all know how to do it - "Exercise more, Eat less", right?
While this is true, we all know that it's not that simple. If it
were, we would all be a lot thinner, healthier and more
energetic! Instead, most people need help making those
well-intentioned goals really stick. It takes a plan that is easy
to implement, but firmly grounded, one that is proven by the
sciences. In the field of nutrition, a field studied by all
dietitians/dieticians, scientific study is applied to accurately
measure the effectiveness of diet approaches. We know what works
and what doesn't. As a health care professional, dietitians have
the skills and knowledge to apply this science and convert it to
"real world", practical, and useful information. They don't apply
gimmicks, prescribe pills, or implement fad diets, and always,
your good health and well-being is the first concern.
As a
Registered
Dietitian of 17 years,
I've applied the science of nutrition to the many weight loss
patients I've counseled. My professional experience and
interest is in working with people with weight control, heart
disease, and lipid (fat) disorders. With
a Master's of Science in Teaching from Portland State University,
emphasizing exercise physiology, I got a very balanced
perspective on how to apply exercise and diet to weight loss.
Developing diet plans for people has been a real pleasure, I
truly enjoy seeing others succeed and helping them learn more
enjoyable and healthy ways to reach their goals. My knowledge and
experience has given me the expertise required to help others by
developing weight loss and diet plans that are realistic,
long-term options for people who want a real solution to their
diet concerns and just don't have the time to seek professional
help in an office setting.
My interests led me to pursue a certificate in fitness, through
my master's program. I enjoy teaching others the right way to
get healthy and to lose weight . Having an online program with a
personalized diet plan, fitness and exercise resources, as well
as counseling support has really helped people achieve results
that they would usually not have access to. My past clients have
learned proven ways to reach their goals and have successfully
lost weight over the years. Getting access to the right
information about your diet is paramount to your success. The
convenience and privacy of our on-line services makes it easy to
do.
My
nutritional philosophy is based upon scientific evidence
that the best diet (for most people) is one that improves one's
lipid (cholesterol and blood triglycerides) profile, avoids
harmful cancer-promoting substances, and limits excess calories
that lead to unhealthy weight gain and other chronic diseases.
Nutrition is a fairly young science, and we are constantly
learning new things about the role various foods play in the
prevention and development of diseases like cancer, diabetes, and
heart disease. Therefore, new information can contradict what we
thought was true ten years ago, and this can be confusing. Who
and what can you trust? We have to go with the best
information that science has to offer, and trust your own
intuition and common sense to sift through the unfounded and
sometimes dangerous diet fads.
My goal with this program is to enable dieters to both achieve
their diet and weight goals through personally relevant
information and to simultaneously improve their health through
better nutrition.
Our Dietitian's
Personal Diet Plan is a personal eating strategy that helps
you put knowledge into action. Each plan is personally meaningful
and relevant, because it is based upon your own eating habits.
Personal Diet organizes and prioritizes the specific changes
you need to make to lose weight, to feel better, and to improve
your health through better eating choices. The advantage to
this program is that it is in written form, is comprehensive, and
costs much less than a series of typical dietitian
consultations!

Most of us have a
good idea of what we need to do to make better eating choices,
but are unable to put knowledge into action consistently enough to make a difference. What's
needed is a specific plan that is relevant to our daily lives.
The personal assessment of each food choice and the
individualization of a Personal Diet plan is what will motivate
you to change. It's easy when something complicated like
changing the way you eat is laid out in easy to follow and
specific steps, and it is designed to fit your lifestyle and
eating preferences. If you do it right, you really can achieve
your short term goal (get those pounds off -start looking and
feeling better) and make it stick. The goal is to give you a new
eating style that's easy to do, gets you to your goal, and helps
keep you there.
