Long
term weight control is within everyone's reach. While
this is true, we all know that it's not that simple. If it were,
we would all be a lot thinner, healthier and more energetic! Instead,
most people need help making those well-intentioned goals really stick.
It takes a plan that is easy to implement, but firmly grounded, one that
is proven by the sciences. In the field of nutrition, a field studied
by all dietitians/dieticians, scientific study is applied to accurately
measure the effectiveness of diet approaches. We know what works
and what doesn't. As a health care professional, dietitians have
the skills and knowledge to apply this science and convert it to
"real world", practical, and useful information. They don't
apply gimmicks, prescribe pills, or implement fad diets, and always, your
good health and well-being is the first concern. Our philosophy is based upon scientific evidence that the best diet (for most people) is one that improves one's lipid (cholesterol and blood triglycerides) profile, avoids harmful cancer-promoting substances, and limits excess calories that lead to unhealthy weight gain and other chronic diseases. Nutrition is a fairly young science, and we are constantly learning new things about the role various foods play in the prevention and development of diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Therefore, new information can contradict what we thought was true ten years ago, and this can be confusing. Who and what can you trust? We have to go with the best information that science has to offer, and trust your own intuition and common sense to sift through the unfounded and sometimes dangerous diet fads. My goal with this program is to enable dieters to both achieve their diet and weight goals through personally relevant information and to simultaneously improve their health through better nutrition. Most
of us have a good idea of what we need to do to make better eating choices,
but are unable to put knowledge into action consistently
enough to make a difference. What's needed is a specific plan that
is relevant to our daily lives. The personal assessment of each food choice
and the individualization of a Personal Diet plan is what will motivate
you to change. It's easy when something complicated like changing the
way you eat is laid out in easy to follow and specific steps in the Personal
Diet, and it is designed to fit your lifestyle and eating preferences.
If you do it right, you really can achieve your short term goal (get those
pounds off -start looking and feeling better) and make it stick. The goal
is to give you a new eating style that's easy to do, gets you to your
goal,
Whether you need to lose weight or improve your health...
